Walt Jenkins had an idea for a publication to help homeowners choose reputable service providers.
Founded in 1997 by Walt Jenkins, EBSCO Research is an independent research firm that currently publishes Home Reports and Best Pick Reports. The inspiration for the first publication came from hearing friends and family recount their frustration when trying to find quality home service companies in the Atlanta area. EBSCO Research solves this problem by evaluating and documenting the performance of home service providers in order to equip homeowners with the information they need to make informed decisions.
The initial idea was simple: go straight to the source—homeowners—and gather invaluable data on contractor performance in a variety of categories. Today, EBSCO Research conducts thousands of telephone interviews each year with homeowners who have had recent experiences with local home service providers. What began as a door-to-door review aggregation service is now backed by a robust database of hundreds of thousands of unbiased interviews, covering over thirty different contractor categories and spanning across seven major metropolitan areas.
Inclusion in an EBSCO Research publication is a selective and significant accolade. Only companies that meet EBSCO Research’s strict benchmarks are eligible for Best Pick™ status. Companies cannot buy this distinction; instead they must receive almost exclusively positive reviews based on at least 100 customer interviews. In addition to meeting these strict standards of excellence, every company must re-qualify each year. The select few who qualify and choose to participate in the program are then showcased online and in the annual print publications.
Though much has changed in the industry since 1997, EBSCO Research continues to work meticulously on behalf of homeowners to demand only the best from home service contractors.
