Effective May 1, 2007, S.S. Nesbitt & Co. acquired the assets and business of ANB Insurance Services, Inc. (ANBIS). ANBIS was a subsidiary of Alabama National BanCorporation, a publicly traded financial institution headquartered in Birmingham. The acquisition makes S. S. Nesbitt & Co. one of the 10 largest insurance agencies in Alabama.

ANBIS is a leading independent insurance agency offering a full line of commercial, personal and employee benefits insurance products. The company has 35 employees operating from offices in Birmingham, Decatur and Huntsville, Alabama; Orlando, Florida; and Austell, Georgia.

ANBIS CEO Richard Pardue will serve as the COO of S.S. Nesbitt. A 30-year industry veteran, Pardue is also a former COO of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH) Company’s Birmingham office.

Based in Birmingham, S.S. Nesbitt offers business liability and property and casualty insurance as well as personal auto and homeowners insurance.
