Johnny Woller has been promoted to general manager of PRADCO Outdoor Brands.

Woller has served as vice president and general manager of Summit Treestands since EBSCO acquired the division from the Woller family in April 2002. Woller, with the help of his management team, has led Summit Treestands to the top position in the treestand industry. Under his leadership, Summit ended the 2005 fiscal year with a record performance.

“It’s a real honor to be selected to lead PRADCO,” Woller said, “Most of the brands are or have been the premium brands in their category, and maintaining and regaining these positions of prominence is our No. 1 focus.”

As general manager, Woller said he will be pushing hard for innovative new designs and products that will serve the outdoor community.

“We want products that people ask for specifically, because they know that we do products that work,” Woller said.

Dixon Brooke, EBSCO President and CEO, said Woller’s love of the outdoors coupled with broad industry experiences will stand him well in his new responsibilities.

“Johnny is a diligent worker who has the natural gift of relating well to the people with whom he works,” Brooke said.

Brooke said Woller is an effective communicator who is able to instill a sense of trust in his fellow employees.

“Importantly, he has a sense of urgency, and he understands how to properly engineer and successfully bring new products to market,” Brooke said.

Woller stressed the importance of forward thinking for PRADCO’s future.

“In today’s outdoor market, you better get up in the morning thinking about your next great product,” Woller said.

Woller said they will instill that same sense of urgency across all of PRADCO’s companies.

“We feel that when everyone else starts watching for what we’ll do next, we’re getting where we need to be,” Woller said.

Woller said trial and error is an integral part of innovation and one that PRADCO will utilize in its quest for product excellence. “We are going to try new things, new processes and new ideas,” he said. “Some will work, some won’t, but that’s the nature of product development, particularly when your focus is on being truly innovative.”

Woller said the promotion is a huge honor, but stressed that his success is largely due to many talented people in his family and at Summit.

“We have been extremely blessed, and we try to follow the golden rule in all aspects of our business,” Woller said. “Twenty years from now, I just hope that our tenure will be remembered as one where we did our best, we did what we said we would, and that we were respected as being dependable and honest.”

Woller received an industrial engineering degree from Auburn University and lives in Decatur, Ala., with his wife, Suzanne, and their three children: John III, David and Patricia.
