Mt Laurel’s Phase III Opens!

Grand Opening of Nolen Park Brings in Out-of-Towners
The Town of Mt Laurel, EBSCO’s traditional neighborhood development just outside Birmingham in north Shelby County, Alabama, held the grand opening celebration of its newest neighborhood, Nolen Park, on Sunday, June 4, just 10 months after first breaking ground. More than 100 people, many from out of town, attended the celebration to see the newest phase in the town, enjoy refreshments and register for prizes.

Phase IIIA has 62 new homes with the same top-of-the-line quality residents have come to expect from Mt Laurel. Most homes are popular Mt Laurel plans that have been built in Phases I and II, along with a new home plan, the Hawthorn, and several custom plans. Della Pender, sales manager at Mt Laurel, said, “We’ve revised home plans that have periodically sold to create homes we know people will like.”

Phase IIIA is set apart from other subdivisions for a number of reasons, the biggest being that Mt Laurel builders have used many natural materials, like stone, in the home designs.

In keeping with Mt Laurel’s “Leave the Trees” mantra of foregoing clear-cutting the land in favor of building houses that fit in with the natural landscape, Phase III already looks like a community that has been around for decades. The stone bridge and planters that lead into Nolen Park gives a warm appearance, as does the park, with its “dinosaur eggs” – large boulders extracted from the land. In addition, the 90-foot buffer behind the property will ensure that residents will always have a green view.

John O. Freeman Sr., general manager of the Town of Mt Laurel, said, “We continue to try to read customers’ minds to give them what they want. We are constantly improving.” One major improvement in Phase III over the first two phases is wider streets.

Freeman added, “We’ve always wanted an inventory of houses, and that’s what we have now.”

Now that Phase IIIA is completed, Phase IIIB is already under construction. Builders will begin building homes in October of this year. With larger lots, mature trees and new touches like arbors over porches, Phase IIIB is sure to be an instant success.

In addition to Phases IIIA and IIIB, the rest of the Town of Mt Laurel is growing as well. The Town Center has recently added a grocery store, and a bridal shop and photography studio and shop are in the works. The James building, which will house several EBSCO divisions, will be completed in February 2007.
