Whistle While You Work
EBSCO Media’s new press offers a bevy of benefits, with a song

Not only is EBSCO Media’s new Komori LS40P press state-of-the-art, highly efficient and revolutionizing their customer service, it also whistles while it works.

That’s right, during setup, the Komori LS40P press plays tunes, allowing press workers to monitor each stage of the press’s automated make-ready process. This simple musical interlude is critical in getting the high-speed press producing printed sheets as quickly as possible.

The state-of-the-art press had been long sought after and heavily researched by EBSCO Media (EM). Landers Sevier IV, vice president and general manager, explained that groups of EM employees made multiple trips to see the press in action before purchasing.

The Komori Press offers a bevy of bells and whistles – and tunes. The press is able to print at a maximum speed of 15,000 sheets per hour. Multifaceted, the Komori prints on both coated and uncoated paper up to 26 x 40 inches in size.

The Komori also has the capacity to apply an aqueous coating to printed pages. Aqueous coating is a protective finish that provides excellent resistance to smudges and fingerprints. Aqueous coatings are also water soluble, making them a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional varnishes.

“The aqueous coating also dries very quickly, eliminating drying time,” said Margie Sims, production manager. “This means you can turn the job around much faster by printing and coating one side, then immediately printing and coating the other side.”

Adding to the Komori’s charm is its automatic plate changer. This feature eliminates manual plate changing, which is a time consuming and daunting task that consists of multiple adjustments and trial runs.

Perhaps the greatest asset of this gem of a printer is its self cleaning features. Gone are the days of cleaning up after a messy print job – the Komori can take care of itself.
