Vulcan Industries (VI) was recently chosen as a supplier for Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company of Baskin Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts®, the largest coffee and baked goods restaurant in the world. VI will be manufacturing the donut merchandising cabinet for Dunkin’ Donuts stores across the Southern and Western U.S.

A longtime prospect

The sale comes after years of seeking an opportunity with the brand. “Dunkin’ Donuts has been a priority focus at VI for many years, but we continued to hit roadblocks in securing an audience with the key decision makers,” said Hector Pagan, vice president of sales. “The continued persistence by Account Manager Dan Lentini finally got us an audience for an executive review.”

Pagan and Lentini made the most of the opportunity, showcasing VI’s capabilities and making a strong case for Dunkin’ to add VI to its tight fraternity of long-time suppliers.

A sweet treat

After months of a lengthy approval process and sample development by the VI Engineering team headed by Jim Bell and the assigned project Engineer Dan Caldwell, VI was awarded the manufacturing of the donut merchandising cabinet for half of the U.S. “This order represents just a small portion of the business available to us at Dunkin’,” said William Hutson, vice president and general manager. “It also represents the long-term commitment and planning that is necessary from everyone involved in the sales process.”
