Alys Beach architects win the Award of Honor

The Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (FLASLA) awarded Khoury & Vogt Architects the 2010 Design Awards Award of Honor in the Open Space category at Alys Beach, Fla., for Lake Marilyn, Somerset Bridge and Seagarden Walk. According to Marieanne Khoury-Vogt and Erik Vogt, Alys Beach town architects, the project encompasses the creation of a public pedestrian street, pocket park, lake and bridge within a resort town. It seeks to integrate architecture and landscape into a harmonious whole and delineate the transition from an urban to rural environment along its passage.

“We are extremely grateful to Alys Beach General Manager Jason Comer and to EBSCO for the wonderful opportunities they offer us that allow us to continue to hone our craft with regards to shaping the architectural and landscape realm at Alys Beach. Alongside the rest of the team at Alys Beach, we hope that the work being done here will continue to garner many more design awards that can help people discover what a beautiful natural environment we have here and how manmade urbanism can further enhance it,” the Vogt’s expressed.
