Behind the Scenes at Vulcan Information Packaging

Vulcan Information Packaging (VIP) recognized the benefit of keeping the company"s name in front of as many people as possible by giving customers an inside look of operations through two well-known social media sites. In fall 2010, VIP debuted on Facebook and YouTube, two sites chosen because of their popularity and professional and reputable content standards. 

On YouTube, VIP features "how-we-make" videos to take customers behind the scenes of the manufacturing process. The video producer edits the video alongside the production manager and supervisors to ensure videos do not include proprietary production techniques or equipment modifications. VIP also increased their search engine presence through keywords in the YouTube videos, specifically within Google Videos.

Several VIP employees contribute to VIP"s Facebook posts, helping to keep information flowing and communication fresh. Posts feature news about VIP, new products and equipment, stock products, clearance items and links to their YouTube channel. VIP hopes to interact with subscribers posting their comments, questions and photographs to the VIP Facebook page.
