After serving as interim chief financial officer (CFO) since February, David Walker has been named CFO of EBSCO Industries, Inc. Walker joined EBSCO 10 years ago as general manager of Military Service Company. Just over a year later, he was promoted to acquisitions manager and led a period of growth over the next nine years during which approximately 40 acquisitions were completed.
Walker graduated first in his class with an accounting degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., and earned his certified public accountant (CPA) license in the year of his graduation.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the finance department since becoming involved in February and have been humbled by the work ethic and enthusiasm of the group. I look forward to working with the finance team as we strive to be an enabler in making EBSCO’s businesses stronger,” said Walker. “My 10 years at EBSCO have been the most exciting of my career. EBSCO is a unique company with a commitment to growth organically and through acquisitions. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be involved with EBSCO’s acquisition activities, and I look forward to continuing to work with Matt Carrington as he leads this effort.”

Matt Carrington, who as acquisitions director assisted Walker with approximately 25 acquisitions since 2005, has been promoted to acquisitions manager. Carrington was with Ernst & Young and several other firms for a number of years before returning to Emory University in Atlanta for his master’s of business administration. He holds an accounting degree from Auburn University and is also a CPA.
“I’m extremely excited about the new position and EBSCO’s continued commitment to grow through acquisitions. David has done a fantastic job as the acquisitions manager and has positioned EBSCO well to succeed in acquisitions long into the future,” said Carrington. “It’s great to work for a company that has such a rich history and unique approach to owning and operating companies. EBSCO has all the elements in place for it to continue to thrive in acquiring and building businesses and I look forward to playing my part in helping EBSCO grow.”
