EBSCO Acquires MCM

In January, EBSCO acquired MCM, a leading manufacturer and distributor of licensed products to college bookstores across the U.S. and Canada. Founded by Bob and Kara Turner in 1995, MCM offers a diverse range of over 400 products, including a popular plush line called The Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, to more than 2,500 college and university bookstores. MCM is also a major supplier of logo"d merchandise to the United States Military, shipping to military base stores around the world.

"There is a great deal of synergy in joining the EBSCO family, and we"re very excited about it," said Bob Turner, who joins EBSCO as MCM general manager.

MCM owns some of the strongest brands and most recognized brand logos in the college market, including the MCM name and logo, Chelsea Paper Graduation Announcements, ColorMax Products, Carolina Sewn Products and The Chelsea Teddy Bear Company.  MCM designs and direct imports many products, including stuffed animals, ceramic mugs, fashion totes, leather wallets, ID holders and more, from several factories around the world. Chelsea Teddy Bear and Color Max products are custom decorated in MCM"s 30,000-square-foot warehouse and production facility in Chelsea, Mich. Totes, wallets and ID holders in the Carolina Sewn Products line are decorated in Fletcher, N.C.
