Moultrie Warehouse and Plant Expansion
After three years of steady growth, Moultrie Feeders in Alabaster, Ala., outgrew its 80,000-square-foot facility and was in urgent need of more warehouse space to house and ship product. “We were using two off-site facilities, and analysis showed it made more sense to build out our remaining land,” General Manager Mark Gregory said. In the months that followed, Moultrie completed a 30,000-square-foot addition with six usable loading docks and capacity to load up to 12 trucks at once.
The new addition takes advantage of natural light and is fitted with low-energy utility lighting and heat dissipation fans — all ENERGY STAR approved. It is also a better work environment for employees, with more restroom and wash facilities and better ventilation to facilitate cooling.
S. S. Nesbitt Decatur Office Relocates to Prime Location
Seeing an opportunity to reduce expenses by moving to a smaller space and renovating it to suit their needs, S.S. Nesbitt’s Decatur, Ala., office recently moved to a former muffler repair shop that has now been converted to office space.
Why renovate an old muffler shop? Location, location, location — as the old real estate cliché says. “Unfortunately, the space that was available did not give the visibility or flexibility that we needed. This office is on the main street running through Decatur,” said Richard Pardue, chief operating officer. “With it traveled so heavily, our name on the building is highly visible, which will help us build name recognition.”
The office opened for business in the new location on May 15, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held June 4.
Vitronic Promotional Group Expands Facility
Vitronic Promotional Group (VPG) in Doniphan, Mo., recently built a 102,000-square-foot warehouse to serve its existing 190,000-square-foot facility. The expansion enabled VPG to move out of a leased warehouse 90 minutes away.
The pre-engineered metal building is equipped with energy-efficient lights, plumbing, fans and skylights. General Manager Lori Kates said they are currently moving inventory in and expect the warehouse to be fully operational by Aug. 1.
