We are proud to support Longleaf in their efforts of improving mental health and expanding their services across our state,” said David Walker, president and chief executive officer of EBSCO Industries.The need for mental health services has increased dramatically in recent years, but options for help are limited across the country. Recently released data from the Centers for Disease Control have shown a steep incline in deaths attributed to addiction – rising some fivefold in the last two decades. In fact, annual deaths caused by overdoses number more than those caused by gun violence and automobile accidents combined.“It’s saddening how prevalent addiction has become in our society,” said Thomas Harris, chairman of the board of Longleaf. “We want to make mental health and substance use treatment options easier for the people of Alabama to access because one death caused by drug addiction is one too many.”The addition of EBSCO to the Longleaf partnership will bolster treatment options for the tens of thousands of Alabamians who suffer from mental health disorders and/or battle addiction, which has been proven to be linked to mental health issues.“EBSCO Industries’ mission aligns with our pursuit to ‘invest well and do good’ throughout our communities,” said Robb Crumpton, LIV’s chief executive officer. “This partnership propels our positive momentum to support those seeking mental health services and substance use treatment options across Alabama.”Longleaf broke ground on their first wellness center location last fall in Hoover. The partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program will be able to serve 60 clients. The facility will be located next to Birmingham Recovery Center – the company’s outpatient treatment location – in the International Park off Acton Road.Construction on the first Longleaf Recovery Center is set to begin this spring in Madison County. Like Birmingham, the Huntsville-area location will provide substance abuse recovery treatment while also serving as a substance abuse recovery resource for the community. Longleaf Recovery Center – Madison will host support groups and retreats and provide meeting space for those with a vested interest in recovery support.A third facility for substance use treatment is set to be built in the Baldwin County area, with a groundbreaking slated for later in the year."},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
EBSCO Industries Joining Longleaf to Expand Recovery, Mental Health Wellness Centers Across Alabama
https://www.ebscoind.com/ebsco-industries-joining-longleaf-to-expand-recovery-mental-health-wellness-centers-across-alabama/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
